The day Gorbachev came to town

Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and his wife Raisa, arrived in Minnesota on June 3rd, 1990, immediately after a summit meeting with President George H. W. Bush in Washington. Minnesota Governor Perpich had invited them to the state to promote Minnesota farming and technologies. The visit entailed numerous stops, including the governor’s mansion, a speech in downtown Minneapolis, and tour at Control Data Corporation in Bloomington.
