June 18, 1981 - MPR’s Tom Meersman reports on lawsuits before the District Court of Appeals. The State of Minnesota case argues that the 1978 BWCA Wilderness Act gives the federal government too much power over waterways. Numerous landowner cases argue various property and land rights issues.
June 19, 1981 - All Things Considered’s Gary Eichten and MPR reporter Dick Daly discuss the impact of letter written by St. Cloud student Donna Gallus to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart. The letter asked why Justice Stewart was still on the court after so many years. Connected or not, Justice Stewart retired shortly after.

February 24, 1982 - Ira Schwartz, research fellow at the Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs, speaking to the Citizens League about the institutionalization of juvenile offenders in Minnesota. For the past 15 years, the prevailing thought within juvenile justice circles has been away from youth confinement. Yet a new study being completed at the Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs shows that incarceration of juvenile offenders is on the upswing across the country. The study, under the direction of Schwartz, uses Minnesota as a test location.
