October 24, 2000 - Revised rules dealing with the state's feedlots went into effect yesterday. Farm feedlots are the byproduct of livestock operations. Large dairy and pork farms have received attention lately for their affects on air and water quality. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says the new rules will help deal with that pollution while considering the number of operations in an area, as well. Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Post reports.
October 17, 2000 - Last night Little Falls became the third Minnesota city to ban smoking in all its restaurants. Little Falls was actually one of the first Minnesota cities to look at a ban, but it took about eight months of discussion and one failed proposal this summer before the issue passed. Those in favor of the city council ban say it's a move that will help the health of the city, but some think local government shouldn't tell restaraunts how to run their business. Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Post reports.
October 16, 2000 - Voters in Minnesota's sprawling 7th district will choose from a political veteran and a newcomer in this fall's election. Five term DFL congressman Collin Peterson faces Republican Glen Menze, a Starbuck area farmer. As Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports, the 7th district is tough for a first time candidate to win.
September 28, 2000 - It's harvest time on Minnesota's farms, and soon many farmers will take one last pass with the tractor to till the soil before winter sets in. But a soil scientist in Morris says the practice of intensive tilling is ruining the state's soil and contributing to green house gasses. He proposes changes, which to some farmers, look like an expensive prospect. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.
September 27, 2000 - Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports that Governor Jesse Ventura spent the day in St Cloud, talking with students at St. Cloud Tech High School about the importance of voting. Ventura says it's part of his effort to increase turn out at the polls this November. He will also raise money for the Independence Party's U.S. Senate candidate, Jim Gibson.

September 4, 2000 - Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post profiles The Minnesota Fishing Museum in Little Falls, Minnesota. In the land of 10,000 lakes, a few things are sacred. And here, where rods and reels can become almost a personal appendage, there's a shrine to the past time. The museum boasts antique rods, reels, lures and boats along with generations of fish stories. But the museum founders Al Baert and Morry Sauve say this is not a typical museum, it's focus is on the people.
August 10, 2000 - People along the Northstar Corridor got a "bells and whistles" preview of commuter rail today . Northstar officials gave rides on commuter rail cars similar to those that will carry commuters on the proposed Northstar Rail Line. The 70 mile corridor is already set up for rail traffic, so supporters say it's just a matter of moving trains onto the tracks. But some people think the Northstar line is an inefficient use of money, and that it won't ever carry enough passengers. Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Post reports.
July 26, 2000 - MPR’s Tim Post reports on how residents of Granite Falls spent the day cleaning up and assessing damage after a tornado ripped through town on Tuesday night. Hundreds of homes were pulverized on the westside of town. Post talked with homeowners as they were allowed back into damaged areas of town to collect personal items.
July 25, 2000 - Minnesota's rural communities are more diverse, and that means more children are entering the state's schools with limited English. Helping those students learn to read and write in English is difficult if they don't communicate well in their native language. A new Spanish reading program in Long Prairie is trying to strengthen Latino children's love for books so they can make an easier transition into English. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.
