May 16, 2003 - Last week the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis turned 40 years old. As part of a special celebration, the theater invited one of the actors from its 1963 acting company back to the stage, Hume Cronyn. The 91-year-old stage and screen actor talked with Joe Dowling, the Guthrie's artistic director, during a special "in conversation" event last week. Cronyn talked about the early days of the Guthrie, his approach to acting, and his experiences working with different directors and actors during his career.

February 13, 2003 - Hundreds of people, including nursing home residents, their relatives, and nursing home employees, held a rally at the state Capitol Thursday morning to urge lawmakers not to cut state funding for long-term care. That's a big order given the cost of nursing homes -- about $1 billion. How the state cares for the elderly and disabled in nursing homes is a huge issue for those people, their families, those who work in nursing homes and the cities and towns where the nursing homes are located.

October 14, 2002 - MPR's William Wilcoxen presents report on Minnesota Twins and their disappointing finish to a remarkable season. A magical season came to a crashing halt for the Twins as they gave up a playoff-record 10 runs in one inning to the Anaheim Angels, whose 13-5 victory brought baseball's American League pennant to southern California for the first time.

January 11, 2002 - An article published today in the Minneapolis-based Business Journal CityBusiness suggests elective medical procedures are taking a hit in the recession. The journal says many clinics that offer procedures generally not covered by insurance policies have seen a downturn in business. Sam Black wrote the article for today's CityBusiness. He says a wide range of procedures have been affected.
