October 14, 2002 - MPR's William Wilcoxen presents report on Minnesota Twins and their disappointing finish to a remarkable season. A magical season came to a crashing halt for the Twins as they gave up a playoff-record 10 runs in one inning to the Anaheim Angels, whose 13-5 victory brought baseball's American League pennant to southern California for the first time.

January 11, 2002 - An article published today in the Minneapolis-based Business Journal CityBusiness suggests elective medical procedures are taking a hit in the recession. The journal says many clinics that offer procedures generally not covered by insurance policies have seen a downturn in business. Sam Black wrote the article for today's CityBusiness. He says a wide range of procedures have been affected.
August 3, 2001 - Kirby Puckett and Dave Winfield will be inducted into the Hall and Midday has a Baseball Hall of Fame extravaganza to preview the event with the recorded words of Kirby Puckett himself, sports analyst Howard Sinker live from Cooperstown, and comments from MPR listeners.
April 27, 2001 - Midday presents a collection of Mainstreet Radio stories from MPR's Indian civil rights series Broken Trust: Civil Rights in Indian Country, followed by an interview with Joe Day, executive director of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council. Day shares his thoughts and answers listener questions.
August 31, 2000 - Governor Jesse Ventura begins a nine city tour a week from today to promote his new book "Do I Stand Alone?" The book's subtitle is "Going to the mat against political pawns and media jackals." Ventura says he wants the book to be a wakeup call for America, but many Minnesotans may find the governor plows some pretty familiar ground. Minnesota Public Radio's Mike Mulcahy has read the book and has this review.

December 3, 1999 - One day after announcing another whopping budget surplus Governor Ventura is rejecting claims Minnesotans are overtaxed. As lawmakers...especially House Republicans...call for an immediate permanent tax cut, Ventura says he wants to take a more deliberate approach. And at least an unscientific sampling of public opinion shows many people would rather the state spend some of the money than give it all back to taxpayers.
