January 20, 2003 - PRT, personal rapid transit, has arrived in Minnesota - at least a small version. A sixty-foot length of guideway and a prt vehicle are being assembled in Fridley. Building the prototype marks thirty years of effort by retired University of Minnesota engineering professor Ed Anderson, one of prt's best known boosters. Personal rapid transit is not new. A system is running in at least one American city. Others, including Minneapolis, are taking a wait-and-see approach. Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Olson reports.
January 14, 2003 - As part of the series “A Lesson on Learning: Behind No Child Left Behind,” MPR reporter Dan Olson reports on varied views of parents on the federal education law and it’s impacts.
January 3, 2003 - Youth, alcohol and mild winter weather are factors contributing to a sharply higher number of road deaths in Minnesota. State safety officials say there's an eighteen percent increase in the state's traffic crash fatalities in 2002 from the year before. A surprising finding is most of the fatalities are on Minnesota's rural roads during daytime hours. Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Olson reports.
January 1, 2003 - Franklin Avenue in south Minneapolis has survived bouts with booze and drugs and appears to be on a path to recovery. The decades-long renewal picked up speed in 2002 with construction of a new housing project. And there are prospects several new businesses will open their doors this year. However, Franklin avenue's road to recovery is bumpy. A landmark business closed its doors yesterday, and future development is tied to the health of the economy. Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Olson reports.

December 4, 2002 - Some very large and fragile pieces of ancient Egyptian art have arrived in Minnesota. They're part of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts new exhibit, "Eternal Egypt" which opens later this month. The exhibit's 144 treasures include massive and irreplaceable granite sculptures. Moving them requires the deft touch of a rigger and a mighty big elevator. Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Olson reports.
