January 25, 1995 - Midday presents Carl Sagan speaking to the Commonwealth Club of California on who we are and where we stand in the universe. He introduces his book Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.
January 26, 1995 - Hanan Ashrawi, author, educator and political activist, speaking Carlson Lecture Series. Ashrawi’s address was titled “The Challenges of Peace and Nation Building.” Following speech, Ashrawi answered audience questions. Ashrawi was formerly chief spokesperson for the Palestinian delegation in the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.
February 10, 1995 - MPR’s Karen Louise Boothe reports on highlights of Sharon Sayles Belton’s State of the City address. Topics of speech included Minneapolis police and environmental city initiatives. Segment also includes commentary from other local officials.
February 21, 1995 - Manning Marable speaking at Metro State College in Denver, Colorado. The speech given in 1992, was titled "By Any Means Necessary: The Life and Legacy of Malcolm X."
March 1, 1995 - Frances Moore Lappe speaking at the Westminster Town Hall Forum. Speech titled "Rebuilding Our Nation, Remaking Our Lives".
March 16, 1995 - Isaac Stern, world-renowned violinist, speaking before members of the Minnesota Finance State Government Division. Stern urged continued support for the arts.
March 22, 1995 - MPR’s Mary Stucky reports on Minneapolis Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton’s views on neighborhood schools. Some in community see it as a return to segregation, others as a community focus to strengthening schools.
March 28, 1995 - George Latimer, former St. Paul mayor, gave keynote address at the Landmark Series Forum "A New American Agenda," held in St. Paul. Latimer’s speech was billed as a policy address on HUDs plans to help rebuild the cities, but it turned into much more - a largely extemporaneous discussion of America's problems and some possible solutions to those problems.
April 5, 1995 - Darin Narayana, executive vice president of the World Banking Group at Norwest Corporation, speaking at Minnesota Meeting. Narayana’s address was titled, “Mexico's Financial Crisis: Will the Rest of South and Central America Be Next? Following speech, Narayana answered listener questions. Minnesota Meeting is a non-profit corporation which hosts a wide range of public speakers. It is managed by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
April 10, 1995 - Midday presents Oliver Sacks, professor of clinical neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and the author of "An Anthropologist on Mars," speaking at Macalester College in St. Paul about his book.
