Talk of Minnesota was special hour-long call-in programing, usually broadcast on Midday. The program presented a topic via reports and/or studio discussion, followed with expanded listener call-in participation.
October 8, 1993 - Midday presents a special edition of Talk of Minnesota on United States policy in Somalia. Program includes various call-in commentary from listeners, including U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone.
April 27, 1994 - A special Talk of Minnesota program, with caller commentary of the late President Richard Nixon. Topics include Watergate, the Nixon administration’s accomplishments, and Nixon’s legacy.
August 14, 1995 - A drama-documentary by writer Norman Corwin about the anniversary of the end of World War II, called 50 Years Later: 14 August, featuring voices of Charles Kuralt and Pat Carroll. Following documentary, a special "Talk of Minnesota" program, with recorded recollections and listener memories of V-J Day, 50 years ago.
September 21, 1995 - A special Talk of Minnesota program, reflecting on the life and times of Rudy Perpich, the former Minnesota governor, who passed away earlier in the afternoon. Program presents reports from the capitol, and commentary from individuals who knew Perpich. MPR’s Gary Eichten also takes comments from listeners.
November 22, 1995 - On this Midday, a proposed tax cut for eligible families is the subject of this special Talk of Minnesota call-in program.
May 8, 1996 - Midday presents a special Talk of Minnesota program to hear the views of Minnesota Public Radio listeners on the proposed cut in the federal gas tax repeal and energy conservation in general.
July 15, 1996 - Midday features a special Talk of Minnesota call-in program about number 34, the now-retired Minnesota Twin, Kirby Puckett. Program includes Puckett press conference and listener comments in the creation of an audio thank you letter to “Puck.”
September 18, 1996 - Midday features a Talk of Minnesota program on political debates. Listeners are asked what they want to hear from candidates and which candidates should be invited to participate.
May 15, 1997 - Midday looks at Governor Arne Carlson's insistence that tax breaks for education expenses, including private school costs, be part of any education funding bill passed by the legislature. On this Talk of Minnesota, listeners call in and comment on whether the governor should stick to his guns or be willing to compromise.
September 2, 1997 - Midday offers a special back-to-school "Talk of Minnesota" program to hear from parents of school children and others on what they would like kids to learn this year. Listeners call in with comments and questions.
