MPR’s Laura McCallum reports on the debate over higher education state funding between Governor Jesse Ventura and University of Minnesota president Mark Yudof. Neither side is backing down on what promises to be one of the biggest budget debates this session.
Ventura says he is not cutting the University of Minnesota's budget, but just cutting back the amount of new money. Yudof says contrary to Governor Ventura's characterization, the University's budget request is no "wish list." Ventura this week recommended slashing the university's request for a $221 million increase to $56 million, and said that no group will get everything it wants.
