Midday presents part one of a Radio Smithsonian documentary, entitled Black Radio: Telling it Like it Was. Following documentary, Yusef Mgeni, president of Urban Coalition talks about Black radio. He has twenty years' experience producing black radio programs.

The first of a series of documentaries about the history of Black radio is about the early days of radio, and such programs as “Beulah” and “Amos and Andy.”
