SPEAKER 1: The events surrounding the shooting, we have not been able to verify, or we are working on that. We send people out, that's 200 miles from here, to try to find out what happened. Tomorrow, Dennis Banks will release a statement after he's able to get in touch with everybody. We understand that we're eyewitnesses.

SPEAKER 2: Is it your feeling that the shooting is the result of some problem between camp and Bellicourt?

SPEAKER 1: That's not that we know, we know of nothing like that. They were up here and they had gone down to, there was a fair and a powwow on the Rosebud Reservation this weekend, and many people had gone down for that. And we were aware of no problem, of any sort.

SPEAKER 2: The reports about the seven-year-old girl indicated there was, I believe the wire service used the term a spree of shooting over the weekend. What was that about?

SPEAKER 1: Well, there has been quite a bit of that. That really never has stopped since Wounded Knee was over. And there's been a great deal of harassment, and intimidation of people. And there have been houses burnt and people beaten up frequently, almost daily.

SPEAKER 2: They said also that all the people involved in that shooting were Indians, that there were no police or non-Indians involved.

SPEAKER 1: Well, many of the BIA are Indian. Those are the only jobs down there. Well, there were five arraignments this morning of people who had been arrested around the Wounded Knee incident, and we're preparing motions and arguments to be presented before the Court of Appeals. There's another hearing tomorrow here. [CHUCKLES] There's many, many legal things going on.
