Nearly two-thirds of the Twins' games will be televised on the new network that is currently unavailable to most Minnesotans. January 15, 2004 - Today (Thurs) the city of Saint Paul will apply to become the new home of the Minnesota Twins. City officials are submitting a proposal to the Governor's Stadium Steering Committee, which plans to make recommendations to Governor Pawlenty and the Legislature early next month. Yesterday city council members who had considered putting limits on Saint Paul's bid backed off that idea -- at least for the time being -- and ballpark backers celebrated the capital city's unanimous decision to move forward with a plan. January 1, 2004 - A last minute field goal and an interception allowed the University of Minnesota football team to pull out a thirty-one to thirty victory over Oregon in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, yesterday. The Gophers now have back-to-back bowl wins, having claimed the 2002 Music City Bowl in Nashville. Today, college football serves up its main course of bowls with five games on the schedule, and the college bowl season will finally wrap up on Sunday night with the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. For some die-hard football fans, it's the best week of the year. But for others, the abundance of bowl games has just made the college game more confusing. October 6, 2003 - MPR's William Wilcoxen reports that more than 55,000 fans crowded into the Metrodome only to see an 8-1 loss end the Minnesota Twins' baseball season. After winning the first game, the Twins scored only once in each of the next three games...allowing the Yankees to take the best-of-five playoff series three games to one.
October 3, 2003 - The Minnesota Twins' first round playoff series with the New York Yankees is even at one game apiece as the teams head to the Twin Cities for two games. New York evened the series by pulling out a 4-1 victory at Yankee Stadium.
October 1, 2003 - After two years worth of losses to the New York Yankees, the Minnesota Twins earned a victory when it mattered most. The Twins took the lead in their best-of-five-game playoff series by beating New York 3-1 in Yankee Stadium on the strength of strong Twins pitching and solid fielding.
September 30, 2003 - The Minnesota Twins used strong pitching and good fielding to take the first game of their playoff series with the New York Yankees. The Twins' 3-1 victory in New York was their first victory over the Yankees in more than two years, and it got them off to a good start in their best-of-five first round series.
