August 1, 2001 - The Minnesota Vikings are struggling to cope with the sudden death of one of the team's top players. Tackle Korey Stringer died early this morning (Wed) after collapsing from heat stroke following yesterday's practice at the football team's training camp in Mankato. Vikings officials say they may have information tomorrow (Thurs) on services for Stringer and a revised training camp schedule. July 11, 2001 - Saint Paul Republcian activists have thrown their support to city council member Jerry Blakey in the race to succeed outgoing mayor Norm Coleman. The party endorsed Blakey at a meeting last night but Coleman, Saint Paul's leading Republcan, did not attend and has not said if he will support Blakey. July 6, 2001 - Residents of Saint Paul's West Seventh Street area may eventually mark this week as the time when the neighborhood gained its long sought independence from the stink. Officials with Gopher State Ethanol say newly installed equipment has dramatically reduced emissions from the plant and, at least so far, has eliminated neighborhood complaints about odors.
