April 5, 2001 - Governor Jesse Ventura told the Willmar Chamber of Commerce that he's committed to his plan of property and income tax cuts while expanding the state's sales tax to include services. The governor says he won't bargain with the Legislature, which hasn't been enthusiastic about his plan. He says if lawmakers don't follow his proposals, including on education, he'll be very difficult to deal with.

March 27, 2001 - Mark Broderson and a few other ice climbers built their own ice waterfall. It is 42-feet high and three telephone poles are supporting the structure. They are also able to control the safety of the ice structure.
March 22, 2001 - The simmering controversy over the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux came to the fore at a daylong conference in St. Cloud Wednesday. Hundreds of Native Americans, college students and faculty attended as St. Cloud State University played host to a summit on American Indian Mascots. March 14, 2001 - The Minnesota Department of Agriculture wants to tighten the connection between the state's farmers and consumers who buy their products. The Ag Department hopes a new certification program will give consumers detailed information about their food, so they can feel secure in it's quality. As Europeans deal with livestock diseases, U-S consumers are growing more interested in where their food comes from, and how it's raised. But not everyone thinks the new effort is a good use of resources. Some say programs that help organic farmers are being cut to help the state's big farms. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post has the second of two report's on a new marketing philosophy in the state's agriculture industry.

February 1, 2001 - Activist, author and former presidential candidate Ralph Nader spoke to students at St Cloud State University last night (Wednesday). Nader spent two hours criticizing the government, corporations and what he says are American's "low expectations" for their country. Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Post reports.
January 30, 2001 - Minnesotans headed up North for a little fishing or a weekend at the cabin are used to them - billboards proclaiming great deals, fresh leeches or the best burgers in town. In an area of the state that relies heavily on tourism, billboards are big business . But a group of citizens south of Brainerd want motorists to see only the scenery along a new stretch of road. Their effort has some business boosters worried that thousands of tourists will never know what Brainerd has to offer. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.
January 30, 2001 - MPR’s Tim Post reports on a winter storm that dumped freezing rain and snow across much of the state. Freezing rain spread a layer of ice in central and southern Minnesota while residents in western Minnesota and the Dakotas received mostly snow; anywhere from a few inches to more than a foot.
