February 6, 1998 - A group that's trying to get St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman to join the race for governor says thousands of republican activists statewide would support a Coleman canidadacy. The so-called "Committee for Minnesota's Future," wants Coleman to make a decision on the race soon. This afternoon, members went to the mayor's office to urge him to run. January 28, 1998 - Several metro area black community leaders are rallying support for a march they're planning next week to call attention problems with "hate" crimes. Last night, about 200 people gathered at a church in St.Paul. There were repeated calls for more aggressive prosecution of perpatrators of "bias" motivated crimes. The meeting was response to the alleged racially motivated beatings of two black women in St. Paul on Martin Luther King Day. Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Zdechlik reports.

January 16, 1998 - The legal battle over plans to build a massive bridge over the St. Croix River near Stillwater is on the docket in federal court later this morning in Minneapolis. Judge Ann Montgomery will hear the Minnesota Department of Transportation's claims the National Park Service did NOT have jurisdiction to block the bridge project under federal laws designed to protect designated river ways.
