November 13, 2001 - Leaders of the Somali and Muslim communities in the Twin Cities have voiced repeated concerns about harassment since the September 11th terrorist attacks. Other unsettling side effects from the attacks include confusion over how Americans can balance civil liberties and national security. A forum in Minneapolis last night Helms reports.
November 7, 2001 - It's unclear how much time local boosters might have to try to save the Twins from elimination. And it's even less clear whether there's a consensus on strategy or even the will to prevent Major League Baseball from folding the Twins. Minnesota Public Radio's Marisa Helms reports.
October 31, 2001 - MPR’s Marisa Helms reports that 10 openly gay candidates are running for office in Minneapolis in 2001. All of them are DFLers. Half are running for City Council seats; the remaining five are spread among the Library Board, Park Board, School Board and the Board of Estimate and Taxation. Political observers say that being gay is apparently not an issue for most Minneapolis voters.
October 24, 2001 - Since the September 11th terrorist attacks, Americans have expressed their patriotism in different ways. One of those is a move in some states -- including New York, Wisconsin, and now Minnesota, to require elementary school children to recite the "Pledge of Allegiance" at school. St. Paul School Board Member Tom Conlon wants to make the Pledge mandatory in all of the district's 70 schools. Last night Helms reports.

October 16, 2001 - Leaders in the Minnesota Muslim and Somali community are denouncing a recent Minneapolis Star Tribune article that says local Somalis contributed money to an organization that allegedly has links to terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. Representatives from the Muslim Council of Minnesota call the article "reckless" and "irresponsible." They say it has led to violent attacks against several Twin Cities Somalis. Minnesota Public Radio's Helms reports.
October 8, 2001 - While much of the Minnesota Congressional delegation is supportive of the military strike against Afghanistan, there are those in the state who oppose military retaliation. And at the forefront of many politicians' minds is the safety of Americans during what is likely to be a protracted military campaign against terrorism. Minnesota Public Radio's Helms reports.
