December 26, 2000 - Temperatures will be dropping below zero around the state once again tonight. These cold temperatures are increasing the demand for natural gas, and that's means it's getting more and more expensive to heat your home. Natural gas prices have tripled in the last 18 months, as supplies across the United States have failed to match rising demands. Some analysts say prices could go even higher in the next few months. One way to reduce heating costs is through conservation. Dale Sullivan is an energy specialist with Ramsey Action Programs. He says home owners should start off by trying to reduce drafts within the house.

Minnesota communities and theatre companies all over the state are showing old favorites, and new ones too. That means it's a busy time for theater critics. Dominic Papatola writes for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He's been running around the Twin Cities for the past month trying to see. and review, shows in the metro area. He came by the studio to talk about what he's been doing and what he's seen.
December 19, 2000 - Minnesota could be headed for one of its deadliest traffic years in two decades. The state's Department of Public Safety said yesterday that over forty more people have been killed in traffic accidents this year than at this same point last year. Kathy Swanson, director of Minnesota's Office of Traffic Safety, says that rise is reason for concern.
December 12, 2000 - Twin Cities commuters are getting used to a modified system of ramp meters. Many of the meters were turned back on Friday afternoon with a few changes. Sixty of the meters typically used in the mornings and 63 of those typically used in the afternoons remain off. The meters are also on for a shorter period of time, and the maximum duration between green lights is shorter. Before Friday, the meters had been turned off for almost eight weeks as part of a study of their effectiveness. Mike Sobolewski is the Project Manager of the Ramp Meter Study for MNDOT. He's that yesterday wasn't a good day to base any decisions on.

December 7, 2000 - The University of Minnesota Women's Volleyball team is in Honolulu, Hawai'i preparing for tonight's game against Cal State-Santa Barbara. The Gophers are competing in the N-C double-A regional semifinals. That's the eqivalent of basketball's sweet sixteen. It's the fourth time in school history they've made it this far, but they've never advanced to the final eight. Pam Schmid covers Gopher volleyball for the Star Tribune. She talked about the team with Minnesota Public Radio's Jim Bickal.
