January 28, 2003 - Tonight the Roseau Rams boys high school hockey team plays host to Warroad in one of Minnesota's most celebrated sports rivalries. I am in the Roseau Memorial Arena where the game will be played. The players who will take the ice tonight are at the end of their youth hockey careers here in Roseau. Most of them have been playing together since they were first able to skate. Joining us now to discuss youth hockey is Dick Johnson who played for the Rams in the 1950s and has been the coach of the Roseau pee wees for over 35 years. I am also joined by Stacey Omdahl who is one of the unsung heroes of youth hockey, the moms who get the kids to the rink when they need to be there.
January 28, 2003 - Well, Perry we've been talking a lot about boys high school hockey this morning and tonight the Roseau boys play host to their arch rivals the Warroad Warriors right here at the Roseau Memorial Arena. Until recently, the boys were the only game in town, but over the last five years or so, there has been an explosion in girls hockey all over the state and Roseau and Warroad have been no exception. In 1998 Sharon Grafstrom helped bring girls hockey to Roseau and she joins us now.
January 28, 2003 - We're joined now by the coach of the Rams, Bryan (Butsy) Erickson and team captain Aaron Castle. Since we arrived in Roseau we've been hearing some amazing stories about the impact of the flood on everyone's lives.
January 24, 2003 - Talk about cold......windchill readings around Minnesota reached the -35 to -45 F mark on Thursday morning, the coldest readings since the new formula was initiated by the National Weather Service in November of 2001. But these pale in comparison to the values reported from the Mt. Washington Observatory elevation 6288 ft in New Hampshire on Wednesday this week.....they reported a 6 am EST temperature of -34 F with winds of 117 mph and gusts to 142 mph, giving a windchill of -93 degrees F.....not only far colder than us...but colder than any report from the South Pole as well

November 29, 2002 - Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown is the subject of a new Spike Lee film that's getting a screening at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis this Sunday. During his nine-year NFL career, Brown rushed for over 12-thousand yards and was an all-pro every year. But the film doesn't just dwell on Brown's playing days. Spike Lee says he wanted to present a complete picture of Brown's experience as a black man in America. He interviews dozens of Brown's friends, relatives, teammates and coaches. Lee tells the story of Brown's childhood in an all-black community, his efforts to overcome stereotypes at Syracuse University, and his sometimes-controversial relationships with women. Both Spike Lee and Jim Brown will be in Minneapolis for this weekend's screening. We talked with Brown on the phone from L.A. He says his life has been about much more than football.

The state has since come up with ten thousand dollars for him to use. Gov.-elect Tim Pawlenty joins us now.
