March 27, 2007 - MPR’s Tom Crann visits the "Highway 61 Revisited -- Dylan's Road from Minnesota to the World" symposium sponsored by the Weisman Art Museum at University of Minnesota. Crann speaks with numerous Dylan scholars and other attendees about Dylan’s influence and importance.
October 12, 2006 - A new book by sportswriter John Egan tells the story of basketball Hall of Famer Vern Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen played alongside George Mikan and Jim Pollard on the Minneapolis Lakers when they won a series of NBA championships in the late '40s and early '50s. He was introduced to the game when his family moved to Askov, Minnesota where his father, a Danish immigrant, was hired as a Lutheran minister. Mikkelsen, who lives today in the Twin Cities, says the man who recruited him to play at Hamline University, ended up in Askov by accident. That is Vern Mikkelsen who sang with the Hamline A Cappella choir for three years before quitting to concentrate on basketball. May 18, 2006 - A new group of riders is discovering the Twin Cities bike trail system. They are students at the Wellstone International High School in Minneapolis. The school is designed for high-school-age students who are new to the country. For the last two years, the school has sponsored a bike club where students learn how to ride and get a chance to explore the area. Morning Edition's Jim Bickal reports.

April 3, 2006 - Patient safety incidents in American hospitals grew from 1.18 million to 1.24 million among the 40 million hospitalizations covered under the Medicare program, and incidents varied widely from state to state, and among the best and worst hospitals, according to a study released today by HealthGrades, the leading healthcare ratings company. "Overall we see the number of patient safety incidents in American hospitals continuing to increase, at an enormous cost, and we still see a large gap between the incidence rates at the nation's top-performing and worst-performing hospitals," said Dr. Samantha Collier, HealthGrades vice president of medical affairs. "But we do find the results of serious attempts to grapple with this issue in the success of top-performing hospitals and in progressive states like Minnesota."
