August 31, 2007 - The Fair generates a lot of garbage -- cups and plates -- of course many many sticks. But writer Leslie Ball found that garbage is brought in as its own special display.
August 29, 2007 - One sight you'll find EVERY day of the fair is the State Fair parade. Minneapolis writer Leslie Ball watched the parade today and found her fellow parade watchers just as interesting.
August 27, 2007 - Now, another scene in poetry from the Minnesota State Fair... The butter-head sculptures remain one of the Fair's most visited features, attracting new-comers and old-timers alike. Minneapolis writer Leslie Ball made it there today and was moved to write us this poem.
August 22, 2007 - The recovery effort at the 35W bridge collapse site is over. On Monday evening divers recovered the body of construction worker Gregory Jolstad from the Mississippi River. He was the last known missing person from the bridge collapse. The final recovery means the mission of a team of U.S. Navy divers is complete. The team has been working to recover victims for over two weeks. Navy Diver Brett Eversman, one of the divers on that team, is interviewed.
August 21, 2007 - Governor Pawlenty met today with President George Bush. Pawlenty and other emergency officials briefed the President on the goverment's response to the flooding in SE Minnesota as well as the I-35 bridge collapse shortly after he arrived in the Twin Cities this afternoon. Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Zdechlick is with the President and has a report.
August 14, 2007 - Former Minnesota transportation commissioner Elwyn Tinklenberg provides analysis of the jockeying around the design of the new 35W bridge. He served under Governor Ventura and now runs a transportation consulting firm.
April 26, 2007 - MPR’s Tom Crann interviews poet Donald Hall on the campus of St. John's University. Hall is in Minnesota for a reading at the College of Saint Benedict.
March 30, 2007 - The Red Cross has called the violence in Mogadishu the worst in 15 years. Clashes have occured throughout the week and today a military helicopter was shot down. Tom Crann reports.
March 15, 2007 - Governor Tim Pawlenty is in Iowa today, helping Senator John McCain in his presidential bid. The governor is a national co-chairman of McCain's exploratory committee. Pawlenty and McCain appeared together in Ames with an event scheduled this evening in Mason City. Reporter Tom Scheck has been traveling with the Governor.
