George Latimer was born on June 23, 1935. As a DFL politician, he served as mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota, from 1976 until 1990, the longest serving in that role. His tenure included redevelopment of St. Paul's downtown core. In 1986, Latimer unsuccessfully sought the DFL nomination for governor.
Latimer was also a lawyer by profession, dean at Hamline University Law School, and performed various business functions, including CEO of the National Equity Fund.
Latimer died on August 18, 2024 in St. Paul.
