November 28, 2007 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer interviews author Carrol Henderson about his book “"Oology and Ralph's Talking Eggs” and bird history/conservation in North America. The book details new discoveries that have come from researching a collection of about 4,000 bird eggs gathered by an Iowa farmer named Ralph Handsaker.

September 26, 2007 - A commission, made up of Minnesota Legislative leaders, will meet to discuss whether MN-DOT can increase its spending authority by 195 million dollars. Congress has promised it will appropriate those funds to pay for a new 35W bridge. If the Legislative Advisory Committee does not grant the request, 200 other construction projects could be delayed while funds are diverted to the 35W project. Governor Pawlenty said there's no legal or logical reason for lawmakers to block the request. DFL Senate Transportation Committee Chair Steve Murphy is one of the eight members of the Legislative Advisory Committee and comments on the situation.
August 17, 2007 - Midday with Gary Eichten will air a public forum held at Minnesota Public Radio headquarters called "What Does Safety Cost?" The forum was held in the aftermath to the 35-W bridge collapse in Minneapolis. Citizens, public policy experts, and economists discussed what the public would accept to pay for the increased spending on roads and bridges. Minnesota Public Radio's Laura McCallum moderated the talk which invariably lead to a hot-button topic on funding infrastructure: the gas tax.

March 6, 2006 - Former Minnesota Twins star, Kirby Puckett, remains in critical condition in a Phoenix, Arizona hospital after suffering what is being called a massive stroke. 45-year-old Puckett underwent surgery the day prior to relieve pressure due to bleeding in his brain. Dr. David Anderson, head of Neurology at the University of Minnesota, provides some background on strokes.
January 3, 2006 - Governor Tim Pawlenty is taking his push for slowing illegal immigration to a new level. The governor is expected to announce a major reform plan today in St. Paul and follow it up by flying around the state to repeat his message in cities across the state. The new proposal come a month after the governor released a controversial report on the costs of illegal immigration. Critics say the report ignored the benefits that immigrants bring to communities and the economy. One of the Governor's stops today will be in Worthington, where immigrants make up a big part of the work-force. Joining us on the line is the mayor of Worthington, Alan Oberloh.
