May 9, 2003 - Governor Tim Pawlenty is bringing together leading experts on biotechnology for a summit next week in Minneapolis. Biotechnology is a big priority for Pawlenty. He's pushed for biotech tax-free zones and has encouraged the U of M and the Mayo Clinic to form a biotechnology partnership. The summit, which starts Monday, will bring together business leaders, scientists, and educators. Heath Lukatch, managing director of Piper Jaffray Ventures based in San Francisco will also be there to provide a national perspective.
May 5, 2003 - 25 years after the death of Hubert Humphrey... former staffers and aids are coming together in Minneapolis to honor his legacy. Humphrey was mayor of Minneapolis in the 1940's. He united the Democratic and Farmer-Labor parties... became a U.S. senator who championed civil rights.... and was elected Vice President in 1964. Later today... about a hundred former staffers and aids will gather at the Humphrey Institute at the U of M to discuss his impact on Minnesota and the country. Joining us on the line is Norm Sherman... who was Humphrey's press secretary during his Senate and Vice Presidential career.
May 2, 2003 - Minnesota's reputation for cold was preserved during the month of April, when the state reported the nation's lowest temperature on three separate dates. On April 23rd, Embarrass reported a morning low of 17 degrees F. Again on April 29 and April 30, Embarrass reported morning lows of 12 F and 11 F, respectively, both record lows for that community, as well as lowest in the nation.

April 25, 2003 - Revenue for Twin Cities commercial radio stations is up so far this year. That's according to a new report by a Los Angeles group that compiles information submitted monthly by Twin Cities stations. Nicole Garrison is a media reporter for "The Business Journal." She covered the story for this week's edition of the paper. She says LOCAL companies are buying more ad time from Twin Cities radio stations compared to national companies.
