November 30, 2000 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer talks with Minnesota House Majority Leader Tim Pawlenty, a Republican from Eagan, about his thoughts about state surplus and what should happen going forward. Pawlenty is concerned about Governor Ventura’s idea of lowering state sales tax, but raising in other areas.
November 30, 2000 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer interviews Lee Ronning, director of One Thousand Friends of Minnesota, about the fight against urban sprawl. Urban sprawl will be topic number one at the "Growing Smart in Minnesota" conference taking place later today in St. Paul. Jesse Ventura, governor of Minnesota; and Ted Mondale, Met Council chairman, are expected to attend. So are urban growth experts from other parts of the country. One Thousand Friends of Minnesota is sponsoring the conference.

November 28, 2000 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer interviews Amy Klobuchar, Hennepin County Attorney, whose office is hosting a training conference for police patrol officers from around Hennepin County on training how to handle domestic violence calls. Officers often find it difficult to handle such calls because the family members involved often have conflicting views over what happened, and whether someone should be arrested.
November 23, 2000 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer talks with Steven Meads, a chef at Mud Pie, who shares suggestions for folks who might want to make a quick, low fat vegetarian dish for Thanksgiving feast.
November 10, 2000 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer interviews meteorologist Mark Seeley about the Armistice Day Blizzard of 1940. The storm brought strong winds which averaged over 25 mph for a 24-hour period and gusted over 60 mph. Rain turned to sleet and snow in the late morning on November 11th, and worsened to blizzard conditions very rapidly, as snowfall rates approached 4 inches per hour. The air temperature fell by as much as 40 degrees over 24 hours and inch thick ice coated poles and phone lines, breaking many of them. 49 Minnesotans perished; many duck hunters caught off-guard by the storm.
November 10, 2000 - It's an event that's a part of Great Lakes lore. On November 10, 1975, The SS Edmund Fitzgerald, one of the biggest, fastest, and most powerful iron ore carriers at the time, sank in a fierce storm on Lake Superior. All 29 crew members went down with the ship. MPR’s Cathy Wurzer talks with Captain Dudley Paquette, the last living captain who sailed on Lake Superior during the infamous storm.
November 10, 2000 - IT'S POSSIBLE THAT GEORGE W BUSH COULD BECOME THE FOURTH MAN IN U.S HISTORY TO LOSE THE POPULAR VOTE, BUT WIN THE PRESIDENCY. THAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE RECOUNT IN FLORIDA IS DETERMINED TO GO HIS WAY. THE ELECTORAL VOTES WON'T ACTUALLY BE CAST UNTIL DECEMBER 18TH. ON THAT DATE, MINNESOTA'S ELECTORS WILL GO TO THE STATE CAPITOL TO SUBMIT THEIR BALLOTS. THE ELECTORS ARE FOLKS WHO ARE CHOSEN FOR THE JOB BY THE WINNING CANDIDATE'S POLITICAL PARTY. TIHS YEAR, ALL TEN OF MINNESOTA'S ELECTORS ARE DEMOCRATS. MATT LITTLE IS ONE OF THEM. MR. LITTLE IS THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE MINNEAPOLIS NAACP AND IS ACTIVE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
November 6, 2000 - A once tight election now shows that Al Gore is in the lead for the president, Mark Dayton in the head for senate.
October 27, 2000 - The owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves is apologizing to basketball fans across the state. Earlier this week, the Wolves were heavily fined by the NBA, lost five first round draft picks, and the contract of player, Joe Smith, was voided. The penalties come after the Wolves made a secret deal with smith, in order to get around the NBA's salary cap. Last night at the Timberwolves game owner Glen Taylor talked with reporters.
