September 10, 1998 - THE STAR TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER REPORTS STRIKING NORTHWEST AIRLINE PILOTS ARE CONSIDERING A CONTRACT PROPOSAL THAT COULD END A 12 DAY OLD STRIKE. THE STRIKE IS NOW IN ITS 13TH DAY AND THE TWO SIDES ARE MEETING AT A SUBURBAN MINNEAPOLIS HOTEL. MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO'S ELIZABETH STAWICKI REPORTS THE STAR TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER SAYS THE TWO SIDES HAVE A DEAL. MOST POLLS SAY ATTORNEY GENERAL "SKIP" HUMPHREY IS THE FRONTRUNNER IN THE ELECTION. SO TODAY, PARTY ENDORSEE MIKE FREEMAN LAUNCHED AN ASSAULT ON HUMPHREY. September 4, 1998 - A little more than a week before the primary election, Minnesot's tightest race may be one that hasn't had much attention until the last few days. Three DFLers are vying for the party nomination for Attorney General, and the race is turning into one of the most negative statewide campaigns this year. Minnesota Public Rado's Bob Collins reports.
May 8, 1998 - When tobacco companies agreed to settle 40 state lawsuits against them last June, it did so with astonishing enthusiasm considering it was going to cost them more than 368-billion dollars. Critics, who are naturally suspicious of anything the Companies find acceptable, had little to use in an argument against the settlement.....until the Minnesota tobacco trial started. When it did, momentum toward a national deal stopped and the settlement collapsed. Minnesota Public Radio's Bob Collins looks at how the Minnesota trial has changed the national debate on tobacco.

April 15, 1998 - Even with thousands of job losses, we hear a lot about the high tech worker shortage; that there isn't a qualified workforce to support the growing information technology industry. Not everyone believes it. Norman Matloff at the University of California-Davis is one of them. He says software companies only hire about 2-percent of the people who apply and that the cry of a labor shortage is a way to get cheaper labor.
April 15, 1998 - The presidential election is still two-and-a-half years away but potential contenders are already turning up in key primary states. Candidates were stumping in Iowa even before the 1996 election.
