September 15, 2000 - If you've missed any of St. Paul's Peanuts on Parade Snoopys this summer you can now see most of them in one place. The city is gathering 75 of the 101 statues along Wabasha street in downtown. We caught up with a few Snoopy spectators earlier today.
September 14, 2000 - MPR’s Annie Feidt reports that the University of Minnesota men's swimming team will be well represented at the summer Olympics. No U of M swimmers made the United States Olympic team, but five members of the gopher's squad from four nations will represent their home countries in the pool in Sydney.
September 13, 2000 - Ron Eibensteiner is Chair of the Republican Party in Minnesota. He says the Grams campaign is looking forward to a competition with Dayton.
September 13, 2000 - More than a thousand journalists have converged on Minneapolis for The Radio-Television News Directors Association annual convention which opened this afternoon. Over the next three and a half days, these broadcast journalists will debate the latest trends in their industry from digital television to so-called high speed news and web audiences. In addition to changing the way journalists do their jobs, these high-tech advances have also affected some of the ethical challenges facing reporters. So for the first time in almost two decades, the RTNDA is updating its code of ethics. President Barbara Cochran says the new code is much more specific.
September 13, 2000 - A high profile D-F-L senate race wasn't enough to bring voters to the polls for last night's primary. An estimated 16-point-two percent of eligible voters turned out to cast ballots. Joan Growe was Minnesota's Secretary of State for more than two decades. She says the figure is about average for a presidential election year:
September 12, 2000 - Minnesota Brewing says it's committed to eliminating the odor problem at its plant on West 7th street in St. Paul. Ethanol production at the plant creates a strong odor that neighbors say affects their health and their property values. About 100 area residents rallied outside the plant yesterday to encourage the company to take quicker action to resolve the issue. Jack Lee is President of Minnesota Brewing. He says he is working as fast as he can:

September 7, 2000 - The University of Minnesota attracted a record amount of research money in the last school year. The 455 million dollar total in grant money topped the previous year by almost 25 percent. The university attributes the jump in part to an increase in the amount of federal dollars available for research. Christine Maziar is the University's vice president for research. She says grant dollars are an important way for the University to build its reputation:
September 5, 2000 - An early start to the bear hunting season hasn't done much to thin the state's growing black bear population. A third year of bumper crops of the bear's natural food source of nuts and berries have kept the animals healthy and reproducing at record rates. The Department of Natural Resources was hoping this hunting season would reduce the population by about 6,000 bears, but early numbers suggest hunters will only bring in about two-thirds that number, mainly because the well fed bears are not enticed by hunters bait. David Garshelis is the DNR Bear Project leader based in Grand Rapids. He says bear mortality is also low because North Woods residents are giving pesky bears a little more leeway.
