The University of Minnesota attracted a record amount of research money in the last school year. The 455 million dollar total in grant money topped the previous year by almost 25 percent. The university attributes the jump in part to an increase in the amount of federal dollars available for research. Christine Maziar is the University's vice president for research. She says grant dollars are an important way for the University to build its reputation:
