August 18, 1995 - Arne Carlson, Minnesota governor, speaking to school administrators at Radisson hotel in Bloomington. Carlson addressed was about ways to improve Minnesota's education system. The Governor said school buildings should be open for a longer day and spoke about vouchers, performance-based pay, changes in teacher tenure and collective bargaining. Following speech, MPR’s Mike Mulcahy interviews Larry Pogemiller, Minnesota state senator and chair of the Senate Education Committee; and Alice Johnson, DFLMinnesota state representative and chair of the House Education Committee, give a DFL response to his speech. Mulcahy also takes listener comments.

September 18, 1995 - Studs Terkel, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and oral historian Studs Terkel, speaking at Minnesota Meeting. Terkel’s address was on the topic of observations of the Information Age. Following speech, Terkel answered audience questions. Terkel has written numerous books, including “The Good War” and "Coming of Age: The Story of Our Century by Those Who Have Lived It". Minnesota Meeting is a non-profit corporation which hosts a wide range of public speakers. It is managed by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
September 21, 1995 - Midday presents a Twin Cities speech by Pulitzer Prize winning author Anna Quindlen entitled Living Out Loud: Life in the 1930s. She spoke as part of a family lecture series given at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
September 22, 1995 - An MPR retrospective of the late former Minnesota Governor Rudy Perpich. Highlights various reports, speeches, interviews and commentary. Following the MPR radio scrapbook, Hy Berman, history professor at University of Minnesota, discusses Perpich and his political legacy.
October 6, 1995 - MPR’s Karen Louise Boothe reports that the Governor's Task Force on Lesbian and Gay Minnesotans has completed its study and submitted recommendations to the Governor Carlson’s office. The 81-page report covers a range of issues, including youth, politics, education, and greater Minnesota. Recommendations include safe environment in schools, education training, and improving climate in smaller and rural areas.
October 10, 1995 - Lynne Cheney, former chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities, speaking at Minnesota Meeting. Cheney’s address was titled, “Telling the Truth: Why Our Culture Has Stopped Making Sense and What We Can Do About It.” Following speech, Cheney answered audience questions.
