June 2, 1986 - On this cover story of MPR Journal, a look at possible end of the nine month Hormel strike in Austin, Minnesota. MPR reporter Mike Mulcahy provides details of Federal District Court Judge Edward Devitt’s injunction on United Food and Commercial Workers Union local P-9, effectively ending strike. Even with court decision, some strikers are determined to continue fight against Hormel officials.
June 2, 1986 - Fed district court Judge Edward Devitt orders local P-9 union members to turn over assets and co-operate with International union trustee Joe Hanson. International union makes settlement offer to Hormel to try to save as many worker jobs as possible. Hormel VP Chuck Nyberg says talks will be arranged with Hanson, bite "strike is offically over". Mike Mulcahy reports.

June 4, 1986 - Max Kampelman, the head of the United States delegation to the current negotiations on nuclear and space arms in Geneva, speaking at Minnesota Meeting. Kampelman’s address was on the topic "Negotiating in a Nuclear Age." After speech, Kampelman answered audience questions, including one on Chernobyl disaster aftermath. Minnesota Meeting is a non-profit corporation which hosts a wide range of public speakers. It is managed by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
