August 9, 1995 - Midday presents an NPR Special Report on the end of World War II in 1945, upon the U.S. bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. Scott Simon hosts report that includes various historical readings, audio, and interviews.
August 14, 1995 - A drama-documentary by writer Norman Corwin about the anniversary of the end of World War II, called 50 Years Later: 14 August, featuring voices of Charles Kuralt and Pat Carroll. Following documentary, a special "Talk of Minnesota" program, with recorded recollections and listener memories of V-J Day, 50 years ago.
November 20, 1995 - Nick Hayes, history professor at Hamline University, discusses the prospects for peace in the former Yugoslavia, with Bosnian peace talks being held at Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio. Hayes also answers listener questions.
November 22, 1995 - U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone gives his thoughts and shares his concerns on the idea of American troops going to Bosnia in efforts to support the peace process in the region.
December 7, 1995 - MPR’s Gary Eichten talks with U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone on if he has made a decision on a Senate vote to send American troops as part of a mission to stabilize the region and keep peace amongst the factions.
February 2, 1996 - On this Midday program, a discussion on the military situation in Bosnia with guests retired Marine Colonel David Evans, director of National Defense Issues for the organization Business Executives for National Security; and Debbie Lee, the assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. Guests also answer listener questions.
February 28, 1996 - Midday presents Defense Secretary William Perry speaking at the National Press Club, who discusses US-Russia relations, among other topics.
May 6, 1996 - Midday examines land mines and their disastrous effects. In the first half of the program, a rebroadcast of the Minnesota Public Radio documentary about about efforts to clear land mines in Cambodia called A Plague of Plastic Soldiers. Afterwards, a call-in program about land mines and defense and military procurement issues with David Evans, director of National Defense Issues for Business Executives for National Security.
June 3, 1996 - Midday’s Gary Eichten talks with with veteran broadcast journalist Sylvia Poggioli, who has been National Public Radio's Central Europe correspondent for years. Poggioli covered the civil war in the former Yugoslavia. She is in the studio to talk about post Cold War Europe, life as a foreign correspondent, and answers listener questions.
August 5, 1996 - As part of the Voices of Minnesota series, MPR’s Chris Roberts talks with Lee Pao Xiong, Director of the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans. Xiong discusses Hmong history, culture, and Hmong role in Vietnam War.
