November 30, 2007 - State Finance officials say a struggling economy is forcing Minnesota's budget into a deficit again. Forecasters say the state will see a $373 million deficit by mid-2009. Governor Pawlenty and state lawmakers are now faced with raising taxes, cutting spending or spending a part of the budget reserve to balance the state's budget. December 5, 2007 - Polls show a majority of Americans are concerned about global warming. But it's not clear what we're willing to do about it. A task force is due to vote today (WED) on some measures we could take here in Minnesota, to reduce our carbon footprint. The group has been studying fifty possible approaches to the problem. It's planning to report to Governor Tim Pawlenty after the first of the year. Some of the ideas are the energy equivalent of castor oil. They may be good for us, but they're a little hard to swallow. Minnesota Public Radio's Stephanie Hemphill reports.
December 7, 2007 - Two lives changed by Pearl Harbor. Ken Deans was in the Army on the Island of Oahu on Dec. 7th, l941. His base was hit during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Carl Nomura was 19 at the time and living in Los Angeles. Not long after the attack, he and 120,000 other Japanese Americans were placed in internment camps.
December 10, 2007 - Decorah, Iowa is a town less than 20 miles from the Minnesota border. It is the home of Luther College and the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, which is the largest museum in the country devoted to a single immigrant ethnic group. With the Iowa caucus less than a month away, Cathy Wurzer looks into the history of this small Mid-western town.
December 12, 2007 - Today is the one year anniversary of a federal immigration raid on the Swift meatpacking plant in Worthington. Officers arrested 239 illegal immigrants in the southwest Minnesota city. It was part of a nationwide action. Latinos in Worthington say they're still recovering from the raid. Other people say the raid didn't go far enough.

January 3, 2008 - A spokesman for the Central Intelligence Agency confirms that agents met with then-Governor Jesse Ventura in 1999. But former Minnesota Senator Dave Durenberger, who spent eight years on the Senate Intelligence Committee, says Ventura's account is hard to believe.
January 3, 2008 - Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura is raising a few eyebrows with claims in a new book about his dealings the Central Intelligence Agency. The St. Paul Pioneer Press offered a sneak peak today (Thursday) of the forthcoming book, titled "Don't Start the Revolution Without Me." In one excerpt, Ventura describes a post-inaugural meeting with CIA agents. He also claims a CIA operative was on the state payroll. Even a Ventura confidant is questioning the account. But as Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Pugmire reports, the surprising revelations are at least partially true.
