September 25, 2002 - Governor Jesse Ventura is en route to Cuba today. Ventura will spend the next three days participating in the U.S. Food & Agribusiness Exhibition in Havana. The governor and leaders from several prominent Minnesota companies say the island nation presents a new market for the state's farmers -- but Ventura's visit has drawn criticisms from Bush administration officials who say he's only lending legitimacy to Fidel Castro's government. Minnesota Public Radio's Michael Khoo is traveling with Ventura. He prepared this report.
September 27, 2002 - Several peace activists this afternoon ended a three-day sit-in demonstration at local offices of Minnesota's U.S senators. They had been seeking assurances from DFL Senators Paul Wellstone and Mark Dayton that they would oppose resolutions supporting military attacks on Iraq. For Wellstone, who's in a tight re-election race with Republican Norm Coleman, war with Iraq has become a high profile campaign issue. And conservatives and liberals alike are criticizing Minnesota's senior senator on the matter.
September 27, 2002 - Green Party gubernatorial candidate Ken Pentel today FRIDAY released a series of proposals designed to reduce water pollution in the state. Pentel says he's the only candidate stressing environmental issues in his race. But Pentel is battling for the environmental vote with DFL'er Roger Moe, who got the Sierra Club's endorsement. And the other two major party candidates in the race say they've supported environmental programs while serving in office. Minnesota Public Radio's Laura McCallum looks at the candidates' views on environmental issues...
October 3, 2002 - U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone on the Senate floor, said he will not support the Bush administration's desire to take unilateral military action against Iraq. We'll hear his position as the Senate is expected to begin formal debate of the Iraq resolution later today.

October 7, 2002 - Next month North Dakota voters will decide whether their state should join with others in a lottery. Proponents say North Dakota is losing money. Thats because all the neighboring states and even Canadian provinces have lotteries. Three times North Dakota voters have said no to a lottery. But its back on the ballot again. October 10, 2002 - (CUTS NOT FULLY TRANSCRIBED) Republican Tim Pawlenty is facing what could be a major setback in his bid for the governor's office. The state Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board today (THURSDAY) found the Pawlenty campaign and the state GOP violated campaign laws by working together on television ads in support of the Pawlenty's bid. Both the campaign and the party are vowing to challenge the ruling, but the other major candidates are already declaring Pawlenty's candidacy dead in the water. Transportation has become one of the defining issues in the governor's race. The four major party candidates are divided over everything from raising the gas tax to expanding light rail.
