April 19, 2001 - Father John Kyzer died when he was in Kenya. The Kenyan government claimed that it was a suicide, but Wellstone pushes that it was an assassination because there is a lot of proof that supports that case.
April 20, 2001 - Vice President Cheney sent a clear message to Tim Pawlenty, informing the candidates that the White House does not want to spend money on close races. Pawlenty stepped down to give Wellstone a better chance to win. This causes problems for Norm Coleman. Minnesotans know how to choose candidates but they do not feel that recognition from Washington, DC.
April 20, 2001 - A predicted a $1.5 billion estimate for the 2002-2003 fiscal year, but it could shrink to a $500 million if the budget stays as is.
April 23, 2001 - President Bush will travel to Sweden this summer for a summit meeting between the United States and the European Union. Sweden is a new member to the E.U. and will preside over the organization this year. As Swedish Ambassador to the U.S., it's Jan Elliasson's (ehl-ee-EHS-sun) job to promote his country's interests and those of the European Union. During a two-day visit to Minnesota last week, Elliasson talked about his country's hopes for the upcoming conference. He says summit organizers don't want the conference to bog down over banana tariffs and hormone-enhanced beef at the expense of more serious and long-term issues.

April 24, 2001 - As part of Mainstreet Radio series Broken Trust: Civil Rights in Indian Country, MPR’s Cara Hetland reports on decades of Native American civil rights complaints in South Dakota.
April 24, 2001 - MPR’s Patty Marsicano reports that a key House committee approved a higher education spending bill; one that proposes more spending than Governor Ventura, but less than the Senate plan. The House Higher Education Finance Committee passed its spending bill after some debate over whether it provided enough money.
April 24, 2001 - The Metropolitan Airports Commission has presented a sneak preview of its new 73 million dollar Hubert H. Humphrey terminal. The new facility will begin service on May second. It's four times the size of the old terminal, which will be torn down to accomodate a new parking ramp. MAC representatives say the services and amenities found in the new facility will help passengers navigate the terminal with ease. And Twin Cities based Sun Country Airlines says the new terminal will improve its service and financial condition. Minnesota Public Radio's Brandt Williams reports.
April 24, 2001 - All seven Saint Paul mayoral candidates went to the Governor's residence last night (Monday), but not to meet with the governor. One of the first candidate forums of the mayoral campaign was hosted by a historic preservation group based on Summit Avenue, where the Governor's mansion is located.
