November 14, 2006 - A new magazine in the Twin Cities is trying to put minority business owners in touch with each other to improve their chances for business success. The publication, called Business Nation, launched in September. The magazine's founders say they're catering to the Twin Cities large number of entrepreneurs of color.
November 15, 2006 - Duluth has long been known as a union town. A new book tells the story of how and why. It's called "By the Ore Docks...A Working People's History of Duluth." Minnesota Public Radio's Stephanie Hemphill reports.
November 15, 2006 - Governor Pawlenty says he wants to extend health insurance coverage to all Minnesota children. He made the announcement yesterday during a speech to a group of health care and policy experts in Minneapolis. Pawlenty's remarks come just one week after he narrowly won re-election and now faces a Legislature that is controlled by Democrats. Several groups were surprised by the announcement. While they applaud the move, they want to hear more specifics before signing on. Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Scheck reports.
November 17, 2006 - It’s been thirty years since Hmong began arriving in Minnesota. MPR's Toni Randolph interviews Leng Wong, one of the first arrivals that came in the mid-70s. That small initial group now is a community of more than 50-thousand strong.
November 21, 2006 - MPR’s Art Hughes reports that Minnesota’s Justin Morneau has been named the American League's Most Valuable Player. Morneau's selection by the Baseball Writers of America comes a week after Johan Santana was named the league's Cy Young award winner. Morneau led New York’s Derek Jeter and the Red Sox's David Ortiz for the honor.
