August 4, 2006 - The Republican-endorsed candidate for Minnesota's U.S. Senate race stepped up his criticism of his chief opponent. Republican Congressman Mark Kennedy said DFLer Amy Klobuchar has not taken a clear stance regarding the war in Iraq. Kennedy also questioned the way Klobuchar is portraying herself in the campaign and called her another liberal lawyer. Kennedy, who is trailing in the polls, said Minnesota's Senate race could determine which party controls the Senate next year. August 4, 2006 - Each year the Minnesota Fringe Festival brings together thousands of Minnesotans to see new theater, dance and art. The eleven-day event is a complex logistical feat; it requires a leader who can balance creative artistry and good business sense, all while keeping calm amid sometimes-chaotic activity. Executive Director Leah Cooper will be stepping down after this year's festival.
August 8, 2006 - George Rabasa likes to take his characters to the borders of countries and morality . He says it stems from his heritage. He was born in Maine to Spanish refugee parents and grew up in Mexico City, so crossing borders is familiar to him. Rabasa now lives in Minnesota. In his latest novel, "The Cleansing" Rabasa tells the story of three friends who met in Mexico and have haunted each other's lives for decades.

August 11, 2006 - MPR’s Lorna Benson looks at the life of W. Harry Davis, Minneapolis civil rights activist and educator, who passed away on August 11th, 2006. Davis rose from humble beginnings in a poor, segregated north Minneapolis neighborhood to prominent business and civic leadership in the Twin Cities.
August 16, 2006 - Voices of Minnesota visits two activists: Dr. Steve Miles and Laura Waterman Wittstock. Miles is author of a new book about the role American physicians played in torture in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wittstock is the first American Indian to win the coveted Louis W. Hill Jr. fellowship in philanthropy at the University of Minnesota.
August 18, 2006 - Amy Klobuchar, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, was in Duluth to campaign with Eighth District Congressman Jim Oberstar. They called for an increase in the minimum wage. Klobuchar said people in small towns across Minnesota are feeling the effects of Bush administration policies -- policies she says have led to higher costs for gas, health care, and education.
August 22, 2006 - After his address on health care, the President headed to a private reception in Wayzata, to raise money for Michele Bachmann's campaign. Bachman is the Republican candidate for Minnesota's 6th district congressional seat. She faces DFL-er Patty Wetterling and Independence Party candidate John Binkowski in the race for the seat. It's being vacated by Mark Kennedy, who's running for US Senate. To talk about the politics of the President's visit we've called on a political scientist from within the 6th district. August 23, 2006 - American RadioWorks and Marketplace present the documentary “Rebuilding Biloxi: One Year after Katrina.” Hurricane Katrina devastated the lives of thousands of Mississippi Gulf Coast residents. Rebuilding Biloxi tells the stories of several families in the coastal community of Biloxi, MS, and their struggle to survive and then recover from the storm.
