July 29, 2010 - MPR’s Bob Kelleher reports on the Duluth’s Tall Ships Festival, where massive crowds of boat watchers are expected. Nine sailing ships will be on display in the harbor for the four-day event.
September 16, 2010 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer talks with Mike Link, as he and Kate Crowley near their completion of walking the shoreline of Lake Superior. The Minnesota couple spent five months traversing the nearly 1,600 miles of the lake’s shoreline, which ends as they near Canal Park in Duluth. They will be the first people in recorded history to accomplish that feat.
September 20, 2010 - As part of MPR's Youth Radio Series, Youth Radio reporter Mara Kumagai Fink explores her family’s memories of internment camps for Japanese Americans during WWII. Mara spent the summer visiting these camps and uncovering what happened to her family during the war.
September 23, 2010 - MPR’s Tom Weber reports that after recent student suicides, there are efforts to change Anoka-Hennepin School District's sexual orientation curriculum policy. The policy states that sexual orientation topics aren't part of the curriculum, and it instructs teachers to remain neutral if the subject comes up in class.
October 4, 2010 - MPR’s Rupa Shenoy reports the Minnesota Twins set a new attendance record this season, selling 3,223,640 tickets for games at the new Target Field. If you ask the fans at the final regular season game, the reason why is clear…the ballpark.
October 6, 2010 - The Minnesota Twins open their postseason against the New York Yankees, a team that has been responsible for many of the Twins' woes in recent playoff appearances…and there's no expectation that the Yankees will be any less of a threat this time.
October 12, 2010 - MPR’s Elizabeth Baier reports on debate in Mankato between candidates battling in Minnesota's 1st District. DFL Congressman Tim Walz has two challengers in the 2010 election season, Republican Randy Demmer and Independence Party candidate Steven Wilson. The three candidates gathered to debate several key issues, including healthcare and debt.
November 1, 2010 - MPR’s Mark Steil reports on the three candidates vying to represent Minnesota's 1st Congressional District. DFL incumbent Tim Walz, Republican Randy Demmer, and Independence Party candidate Steven Wilson are all campaigning into the final stretch of race.
November 5, 2010 - With the close of the 2010 gubernatorial race, MPR’s Curtis Gilbert revisits the memorable 1990 Minnesota governor’s race, which involved screaming headlines, sex scandals, an 11th hour withdrawal -- and a surprise upset victory.
November 8, 2010 - MPR’s Stephanie Hemphill looks into a microscopic organism in Lake Superior that lives peacefully on the rocky shore. But this same algae is causing big problems in some other streams around the world, notably in New Zealand and New England. It's a bit of a mystery that a handful of scientists are racing to solve.
