Meet the Candidates is a long-running series at MPR News in which political candidates from numerous parties sit down at MPR studios and the MPR State Fair booth to discuss their positions and pitch their candidacy to potential voters in the listening audience.
May 28, 1998 - As part of our "Meet the Candidates" series, the DFL candidates for Attorney General, State Senator Ember Reichgott Junge; former Commerce Commissioner Mike Hatch, and former U.S. Attorney David Lillehaug, answer questions from listeners about various topics, including gun laws, HMOs, and death penalty. Program begins with a Minnesota attorney general report.

Then Republican Tim Pawlenty will be in the studio Thursday at noon, and IP candidate Tim Penny on Friday at 11 a.m. Green Party candidate Ken Pentel was on October 24th.
September 8, 2005 - As part of the Meet the Candidates series, Midday presents interviews with six mayoral candidates…St. Paul mayoral candidates include Green Party candidate Elizabeth Dickinson, incumbent Mayor Randy Kelly, and former City Councilman Chris Coleman. Minneapolis mayoral candidates include Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin, incumbent Mayor R.T. Rybak, and Green Party candidate Farheen Hakeem.
February 23, 2006 - As part of our "Meet the Candidates” series, MPR’s Mike Mulcahy talks with Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar. She is hoping to keep Mark Dayton's U.S. Senate seat in Democratic hands. She's already raised well over $2 million to finance her campaign, putting her second in the money race behind Republican contender Rep. Mark Kennedy. Klobuchar answers listener questions.
