Amy Jean Klobuchar is an American Democrat politician and lawyer, who is currently representing Minnesota in the United States Senate.
Born May 25th, 1960, in Plymouth, Minnesota, Klobuchar first foray into politics was advocating to the Minnesota Legislature on a bill that would guarantee new mothers a 48-hour hospital stay. She later became Hennepin County attorney from 1999 to 2007. Klobuchar was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, becoming Minnesota's first elected female United States senator, and since reelected in 2012 and 2018. Klobuchar sought the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination from February 2019 to May 2020.

January 26, 1995 - Local attorney Amy Klobuchar discusses the making of the sporting dome facility in Minneapolis. In 1982, Klobuchar wrote the book Uncovering the Dome, a history of the political dealings that finally ended with the construction of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

November 28, 2000 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer interviews Amy Klobuchar, Hennepin County Attorney, whose office is hosting a training conference for police patrol officers from around Hennepin County on training how to handle domestic violence calls. Officers often find it difficult to handle such calls because the family members involved often have conflicting views over what happened, and whether someone should be arrested.

December 27, 2001 - MPR’s Cathy interviews Amy Klobuchar, Hennepin County Attorney, on fight against elder abuse. Klobuchar will announce the results of a program designed to prevent abuse of the elderly. The Senior Initiative is one year old. Its team of four attorneys, an investigator, and a victim advocate has worked on 43 cases so far this year. Klobuchar says they've seen a wide range of crimes.

April 16, 2003 - MPR’s Nikki Tundel interviews Chris Pesklo about his attempts to stop University of Minnesota rioting, and of losing a special hat. Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar says more felony charges are likely in connection with Sunday's Dinkytown riot. Prosecutors charged one 19-year-old yesterday with felony property damage. The rioters torched dumpsters and overturned cars after the Minnesota gophers won the NCAA men's hockey championship. Chris Pesklo was one of only a few onlookers who tried to stop the riots. He has lived in Dinkytown for almost 16 years. He says it wasn't hard for him to decide when it was time to step in.

September 9, 2003 - A day-long session in Duluth kicks off five regional public programs scheduled around the state this month to discuss identity theft. Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar is the president of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association, who along with AARP is sponsoring the forums. Klobuchar says identity theft in on the rise both across the country and in Minnesota.
