October 20, 2000 - Republican vice-presidential nominee Dick Cheney says he's pleased by a new poll showing the Bush-Cheney ticket with a slight lead among likely Minnesota voters. Cheney made a brief campaign stop in the Twin Cities this morning to call attention to promote the GOP ticket, but state Democrats say they aren't conceding anything. Minnesota Public Radio's Michael Khoo reports.
October 20, 2000 - Fire crews from all over the country are still working to contain a brush fire north of the Twin Cities in and around the Carlos Avery Wildlife Refuge. The fire is burning just east of Interstate 35 between Stacy and Wyoming. Ashes from a homeowner's recreational fire sparked the blaze which has burned about ten thousand acres, and forced numerous evacuations. Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Zdechlik reports.

October 23, 2000 - Governor Ventura met with outgoing Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo today at the Presidential Palace in Mexico City. Ventura also adressed the American Chamber of Commerce there. It was the first day of a week long trade mission to Mexico. Minnesota Public Radio's Andrew Haeg is in Mexico with the Governor and has an update.
October 23, 2000 - Voters in southeastern Minnesota face a rematch of the 1996 congressional race between incumbant Gil Gutknecht (GOOT-nekt) and challenger Mary Rieder (REE-der). Four years ago the candidates fought a fierce battle costing a record 1.5-million dollars. Rieder came within five-and-a-half percentage points of unseating Gutknecht. Both sides are again spending considerable amounts of money, but Gutknecht appears to have a strong hold on the seat as he ends his third term. Minnesota Public Radio's Art Hughes reports:
