Dudley Voigt, co-founder of Teens Rock the Mic, comments on developing young people. The Twin Cities based youth poetry group is trying to raise money for their organization and they're getting some help from several reknowned writers and poets.
Teens Rock the Mic is a group of young inner city poets who regularly perform in poetry slams around the city. The group's co-founder, Dudley Voigt asked her mother, poet Ellen Bryant Voigt to read some of her work to the youth and bring some of her fellow poets. The lineup includes Patricia Hampl, Alexs Pate and Charlie Baxter. Dudley Voigt says the proceeds from the benefit will go to establish a local chapter of a national youth poetry organization in the Twin Cities.
