The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota is testing a new West Nile virus vaccine for birds. If it works, the vaccine could be used to protect birds in captivity... as well as threatened and endangered species. The mosquito-borne West Nile virus was first discovered in the U.S. in New York in 1999, and showed up Minnesota for the first time last summer.
