The US Senate is in the midst of a debate over farm policy. One of the most contentious issues is whether to continue the Northeast Dairy Compact in New England and whether similar compacts should be allowed in other parts of the country. A compact creates a competitive advantage for milk producers within a region and makes it virtually impossible for an outside producer to sell milk in that area. Bill Dropick is a dairy farmer in Nelson, Minnesota and the Vice-President of the Minnesota Milk Producers Association. He's been fighting against the Northeast Dairy Compact for over a decade and he joins us now.
