Matt Davis, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, says March 8th snowstorm set a record. The storm blanketed much of the Midwest and dumped 16 inches of snow in the Twin Cities.
The snowstorm that hit central and southern Minnesota on March 8-9, 1999 dropped a ‘gentle’ heavy snow in many areas. A new daily record for March 8th was set, with snowfall of 12.5 inches.
