MPR’s Mark Heistad talks with Virginia Deemer Mosiman, a woman who received a 50 Year Award at the Minnesota State Fair. The award is presented annually to individuals who have actively participated in the Minnesota State Fair for 50 years as an employee, exhibitor, vendor and/or volunteer.
Virginia actually lived on the fairgrounds as a child and shares a few memories from her many fair experiences, including American burlesque dancer Sally Rand and two trains crashing into each other. She also tells of birthing to her son Edward on the fairgrounds; he was forever known afterwards as the "Minnesota State Fair Baby."
