[UPBEAT MUSIC] KATE MOOS: Lunch hour lines form outside the Metrodome ticket office in downtown Minneapolis, not far from the wind Twins banner decorating City Hall. [? Jean ?] [? Salman ?] and her friend Diane [? Yusilak ?] have the fever. They got back from watching the Twins weekend performance in Milwaukee and rushed to the dome to get more tickets.

SPEAKER 1: We've been going a little nuts this year in the Twins. [LAUGHS]

KATE MOOS: [? Salman ?] says. They may not go to the expansive trying to get tickets for the playoffs, and will probably rent a big screen for the event instead. For [? Yusilak, ?] it's not any particular players season that has her enthusiastic, but the club as a whole.

SPEAKER 2: They work together as a team, and it's the winning that count. And nobody's out there on an ego trip. It's really great to see them playing together so well and patting each other on the back and not themselves.

KATE MOOS: The Twins, now one game in front of Oakland, are

enough to get Yan Gomes of Moorhead to the dome. Late season excitement, combined with the attractions of the State Fair is drawing lots of out-of-town visitors to the metro area. But Gomez says it's hard to get good seats for the games.

YAN GOMES: I came down for my week vacation, and I've been trying to get reserve tickets, and they're out. I can't get anything at all. So I'm on the outfield bleachers. I think I'll have to come armed and get tickets.

KATE MOOS: The Twins are now accepting mail order applications for potential postseason games and will do so through September 8. Twins Director of Marketing and Broadcast Dave Jurcina expects the office will soon be inundated with ticket orders. And he has advice for people serious about getting a first hand glimpse of the Twins in the playoffs.

DAVE JURCINA: The best way to ensure that you're going to get playoff tickets is to put $200 down for a season ticket, or a partial plan for next year, because with every $200 deposit, Twins fans will get a chance to buy a ticket for both World Series and playoff action this season.

KATE MOOS: Dave Jurcina. The Twins performance this year is drawing its share of attention from fair weather friends. But for fans like Bill [? Gove, ?] Twins fever is something just this side of heaven.

SPEAKER 3: I'm a diehard Twins fan since 1965. So I'm in ecstasy. [LAUGHS]

[UPBEAT MUSIC]
