Kathy Garvey, a 5th grade teacher from Anoka, asked her 11-year-old students to write down their concept of the role of women. Garvey shares some of the responses and the stereotypes reflected, even at a young age.
Some examples of what the children wrote: "Women is a dumb person; her place is in the kitchen; Women is a person who likes to go shopping; Women is usually a housewife or sometimes an officer in the Navy; Women are dumb and weak."
