AIM leader Dennis Banks speaks out about Patty Hearst kidnapping, stating that AIM takes an immediate position of totally condemning the act of kidnapping.

“…AIM took an immediate position of totally condemning the act of kidnapping. Many of our own children are being kidnapped to BIA boarding schools yearly. This country is now entrapped in the most dangerous era of modern time. A warning each American must heed. Not one American can that there does not exist that poverty, slum conditions, brutality or injustices. AIM members desperately praying that Patricia Hearst is returned safely to her parents. The flow of blood will never be accepted by AIM. We did not want to be observers or negotiators; we were drawn into this, and we accepted, because we felt we could save a human life.”
