October 3, 2001 - Governor Ventura and his wife Terry appeared on Good Morning America. He went to deliver cards from Minnesotans and to see the World Trade Center site. Rumors that ABC also paid for his trip to have exclusive access to the site is not verified. Because of the accusation, Ventura now will no longer give interviews to the Minnesota press.
October 3, 2001 - MPR’s Tom Scheck reports on Governor Ventura’s visit to New York City to show Americans can come to New York after the September 11th attacks. During his visit, Ventura met with a bond rating agency and toured the area of the World Trade Center disaster, where he handed out memorial cards written by Minnesotans to relief workers.

September 28, 2001 - U.S Housing and Urban Development Secretary Mel Martinez traveled to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport this morning to assure the public that air travel is safe in the United States. The visit was part of a broader effort by the Bush administration to publicize the President's recommendations for beefing up aviation security. One day after the President asked to have the National Guard assist in airport security measures, eight cabinet members boarded commercial airliners. September 19, 2001 - A large crowd gathered last night at the Church of Saint Edward in Bloomington to remember Thomas Burnett Junior. Burnett died along with 45 others after United Flight 93 crashed in Western Pennsylvania last week after the plane was hijacked. Burnett's wife says her husband called from the plane and told her that he and some other passengers were going to "do something" to thwart the attack. September 11, 2001 - The state of Minnesota will resume contract negotiations with two of its unions on Thursday in hopes of averting a strike. The Minnesota Association of Professional Employees and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Council 6 say they'll strike next Monday (SEPT 17th) if a contract agreement cannot be reached. Lead negotiators say the major unresolved issues include pay raises and health benefits. Health economists and labor experts say health care costs are becoming a major issue in labor negotiations as insurance premiums continue to rise at double digit rates. September 7, 2001 - New board members for both Allina's Hospitals and Clinics and the Medica HMO say they're shocked at the spending practices of the companies' out-going management. Attorney General Mike Hatch has released another portion of his audit of Allina, this part covering travel and entertainment expenses. Hatch has been investigating the company since last year and says executives spent millions of dollars unrelated to health care. August 30, 2001 - MPR’s Tom Scheck reports that officials with the Minnesota State Fair have implemented some additional safety measures in the livestock and poultry barns to ensure the health of the animals and fairgoers. Each year, thousands of people walk through the animal barns. Fair officials want to make sure that no illnesses are spread through that interaction.
