December 23, 2003 - For years Christmas light decorating services have been popular in Minnesota's wealthy suburbs. But now paying someone to put up Christmas lights is becoming a popular choice for a lot of people. Some Minnesotans like the professional look they get from a service. Others say paying a pro makes sense since putting up lights is an inconvenience and can be dangerous work. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post checked in with one Christmas light service on the job in central Minnesota and has this report.
December 19, 2003 - Some local officials in central Minnesota are disappointed at plans to scale back the Northstar commuter rail line. The project originally stretched from downtown Minneapolis to Rice, north of St. Cloud. The new proposal calls for a rail line that travels only as far as Big Lake, 45 miles south. Northstar officials say a shorter rail line will cost less and has a better chance of receiving state and federal funding. Some in central Minnesota say they'll push to have the rail line expanded in the future. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.
December 2, 2003 - It's been two months since two students were killed in a school shooting in Cold Spring. Now officials at Rocori High School are asking the community for ideas on how to prevent future violence. A group of Rocori school district residents got together last night Monday to discuss the issue. They say the key to school safety isn't increased security, but increased involvement by parents and teachers in the lives of students. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.

October 28, 2003 - 16 women in central Minnesota, are celebrating a big lottery win. 15 school cooks and one custodian at Holdingford High School will split a Powerball Jackpot of 95 million dollars. The women faced a throng of reporters in their school lunchroom today(Tuesday). The winners laid out some of their plans for the money. They want to share it with their families, take vacations and buy news houses and cars. But for most of the women, an early retirement isn't in the picture, at least not right now. They say they love their close knit group of co-workers and they don't mind staying on the job. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.
October 24, 2003 - University of Minnesota clerical workers are in the fourth day of their strike.(Friday) Hundreds of workers have walked the lines at the U's Twin Cities campus. There are smaller groups of workers on strike at the university's Morris campus. In a community the size of Morris, nearly everyone knows the striking workers walking the picket line. But as Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports, that doesn't always work in their favor.
October 16, 2003 - Hundreds of Cold Spring residents gathered today Highschool student died Friday three weeks after a school shooting. Another shooting victim Aaron Rollins was buried on September 29th. Students remember BarTELL as a fun kid who liked to skateboard and bike around town. And they say even though they've attended two funerals in the past three weeks, life is starting to return to normal. Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports.

October 10, 2003 - Seth Bartell died this afternoon. The 14-year-old freshman was shot late last month at Rocori High School in Cold Spring. He had been on life support ever since. 17-year-old Aaron Rollins died shortly after the shooting and was buried last week. Inaccurate rumors of Bartell's death spread through Cold Spring last night. Some media outlets reported it. For the boy accused of the shooting, Bartell's death will likely bring additional and possibly more serious murder charges.
