July 1, 2010 - Minnesota's award-winning childrens author Kate DiCamillo talks about why she writes and how she does it --and takes questions from kids-- at a recent Club Book event in Apple Valley. DiCamillo is the author of the wildly popular "Because of Winn-Dixie" and "The Tale of Despereaux." Club Book is a Twin Cities-area program that brings popular authors to communities around the metro area. It is coordinated by the Library Foundation of Hennepin County.

April 6, 2007 - This morning, we have another installment in our series, "the Bookshelf," in which we ask notable Minnesotans to tell us about a book that has been meaningful in their lives. Today, we'll hear from the author of "Because of Winn Dixie" and "the Tale of Desperaux" Kate Dicamillo. Growing up in a house full of books, Dicamillo said that reading was a big part of her childhood. But she said during our interview that she would have been a reader no matter what her background was.
May 3, 2001 - One of Minnesota's award-winning children's authors is out with a new book. Kate Dicamillo's won the Newbery Honor for her first story, "Because of Winn-Dixie." Now she's written "The Tiger Rising," which follows a boy named Rob, his friend Sistine, and a live tiger Rob finds while walking through the Florida woods. Dicamillo says her main goal was to write a good story.
